Marathon Digital to buy additional 78K bitcoin miners

Marathon Digital Holdings (NASDAQ:MARA) disclosed in an 8-K filing the purchase of an additional 78,000 next generation Antminer S-19 XP Miners from Bitmain. The new miners were acquired at a purchase price is $879.06M, with 13,000 units being delivered in each of July 2022, August 2022, September 2022, October 2022, November 2022 and December 2022. Earlier in the month, Marathon Digital stock climbed 10% after the company announced purchase of a record number of Antminer S19 XP (140 TH/s) bitcoin miners.
